Starlife client and product guide

Find the right instruction for the stage you are in.

Use this documentation to choose a delivery path, prepare useful information, understand project stages, install a product, operate WhaChat, protect access, request support, and complete a clean handover.

01 · Getting started

Choose the route before choosing the technology.

Start by describing the current situation, people involved, repeated problem, desired business result, deadline, existing tools, and any hard constraints. Starlife will place the requirement into one of four commercial paths.

Software product

A defined Starlife product already solves the core need. Review its feature set, plan or license, deployment, support, and customization boundaries.

Open product catalog

Implementation package

The platform is known, but domain, content, configuration, integrations, migration, deployment, and training are required.

Review installation

Custom engineering

The workflow or product is unique enough to require discovery, architecture, staged design, implementation, testing, and handover.

Custom software guide

Support or recovery

An existing system is failing, misconfigured, insecure, slow, incomplete, or needs accountable ongoing maintenance.

02 · Products and licensing

Evaluate what exists before requesting what does not.

  1. 1
    Read the product detail

Confirm available features, supported users, deployment model, current limitations, dependencies, and the actual release state.

  2. 2
    Choose the commercial route

Hosted access, one-time license, managed deployment, customization, white-label, and resale rights are different agreements.

  3. 3
    Review infrastructure

Confirm domain, runtime, database, storage, email, push, third-party accounts, device distribution, and renewal costs.

  4. 4
    Plan support

Separate defects, installation, configuration, training, custom changes, provider failures, and future feature work.

WhaChat is Starlife’s current flagship product.

Its product detail explains the live widget, owner and agent operations, status stories, visitor intelligence, tickets, notifications, analytics, plans, onboarding, and deployment paths.

03 · Custom projects

Use milestones to turn uncertainty into decisions.

New requirements, changed assumptions, delayed inputs, additional integrations, or major revisions may require a change request with a revised cost or timeline.

04 · Installation

Prepare access without sending secrets through ordinary forms.

Before access

  • Confirm ownership or valid product license
  • Create a current backup
  • Record domain and target environment
  • Confirm runtime and database compatibility
  • List required third-party services

Secure handover

  • Agree a protected credential channel
  • Use temporary or scoped access where possible
  • Never submit private keys in a public form
  • Change temporary credentials after completion
  • Retain an owner-controlled recovery account

Installation may include files, dependencies, environment values, database, storage, routes, SSL, DNS, email, scheduled work, notifications, health checks, workflow tests, and a deployment record. The exact checklist depends on the product.

05 · Project tracking

Follow the public delivery journey with a private code.

  1. 1
    Receive the tracking code

The authorized contact receives a high-entropy code after the project enters delivery.

  2. 2
    Open Project Tracking

Enter the code or use the secure link supplied by Starlife. A code is not an account password.

  3. 3
    Read the current state

Review progress, delivery health, expected completion, current milestone, next action, and public updates.

  4. 4
    Contact support with context

Include the code when asking about a blocked decision or discrepancy. Do not share it publicly.

Track a project
06 · Payment tracking

Separate transaction submission from verified payment.

  1. 1
    Submit after transferring

Use the private estimate page only after initiating the selected bank, Mobile Money, crypto, or hosted payment.

  2. 2
    Keep the STP tracking code

The confirmation screen and printable acknowledgment show a high-entropy payment tracking code.

  3. 3
    Track with the sender phone

Open Payment Tracking and enter the code with the same sender phone. The result excludes transaction IDs and secret credentials.

  4. 4
    Follow the published state

Submitted, verification, action-needed, verified, commencement-ready, cancelled, and refunded states include a timestamp and next action.

Converted currencies are reference values only.

The converter uses recent reference data and shows its date. The payable milestone remains XAF unless a written invoice states otherwise.

07 · WhaChat operations

From business signup to daily customer support.

  • 1
Create and verify the owner account

Complete signup, verify the email code, create the business workspace, and protect owner recovery access.

  • 2
    Complete onboarding

Add business identity, public support name, avatar, badge, website, operating information, and the first administrator settings.

  • 3
    Install the widget

Approve the website domain, copy the generated code into the global site template, visit multiple pages, and confirm detection.

  • 4
    Configure the team

Create departments, invite agents, set role and availability, confirm public display profiles, and test acceptance and transfer.

  • 5
    Configure communication

Verify SMTP, account email, notification preferences, push permission, sound routing, and mobile/PWA installation.

  • 6
    Run a production conversation

Test visitor chat, unread state, typing, presence, attachment, agent assignment, transfer, ticket continuation, and transcript.

  • 7
    Operate daily

Use Live Chats, Visitors, Status Center, Tickets, Analytics, Account, Widget Studio, and Settings according to role.

  • 8
    Review service health

Monitor missed chats, response behavior, notification delivery, visitor activity, open tickets, status engagement, and agent workload.

  • 08 · Support

Send evidence that helps separate the cause.

A useful support request includes the affected URL or product, account or tracking reference, expected behavior, actual behavior, exact time and timezone, device and browser, steps to reproduce, recent changes, error text, and safe screenshots or logs.

    Urgent incident

Service unavailable, data risk, security concern, or a business-critical workflow blocked for many users.

    Functional issue

A repeatable behavior differs from the agreed product or project scope but the wider service remains available.

    Change request

New behavior, redesigned flow, integration, data migration, or capability that was not part of accepted scope.

    Choose a support route
    09 · Security and handover

Keep ownership with the client without spreading access.

    • Use unique passwords and enable multi-factor authentication where available
    • Keep domain, hosting, payment, email, and source ownership in authorized accounts
    • Use named users instead of one shared administrator credential
    • Remove temporary access and rotate secrets after deployment
    • Keep environment files, private keys, database exports, and backups outside public web access
    • Document renewals, responsible contacts, backup schedule, recovery route, and provider dependencies
    • Review permissions when staff, agents, or suppliers change responsibility
Never send a password through the public contact form.

Starlife will agree the required access and a suitable secure channel after the request has been reviewed.
